Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill (born May 5, 1983) is a British actor. He was born in Jersey, Channel Islands, and grew up in the town of Saint Saviour. Cavill began his career in television, making his debut in the British TV series "The Inspector Lynley Mysteries" in 2001. He then went on to appear in several other British TV shows and made his film debut in the 2002 film "This Is Your Life."
Cavill is best known for his role as Superman/Clark Kent in the DC Extended Universe, beginning with "Man of Steel" in 2013. He reprised the role in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016), "Justice League" (2017), and "Zack Snyder's Justice League" (2021). Cavill's portrayal of Superman has been praised for his physicality and acting ability.
