Anna Paquin is a New Zealand-born Canadian-American actress. She was born on July 24, 1982, in Wellington, New Zealand, to Mary Paquin, an English teacher from Wellington, and Brian Paquin, a high school physics teacher from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Paquin is of French-Canadian, Irish, and Scottish descent.
Paquin began her acting career at the age of 11, when she was cast as Jane Bledsoe in the 1993 film "The Piano." Her performance in the film earned her critical acclaim and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her the second youngest person to win an Academy Award for acting.
Since then, Paquin has appeared in a number of films, including "True Heart" (1994), "Jane Eyre" (1996), "Fly Away Home" (1996), "She's All That" (1999), "Almost Famous" (2000), "25th Hour" (2002), "Mystic River" (2003), and "X-Men: The Last Stand" (2006).
